Akita ry. in Finland keeps an open health registrar for Akita and American akita to help select breeding stock that have minimal risk of being carriers of harmful genes, that cause autoimmune diseases like Sebacious Adenitis and Uveodermatological Syndrome.

If your dog has been diagnosed with SA, UDS or with any other autoimmune disease, please inform us! It´s only the owner or breeder of the dog that can make the report. The report must include a copy of a veterinary or a veterinary pathologist´s diagnosis certificate, with the dogs name and registration number and a copy of the dogs pedigree.
It is important to report any sick dog, whether the dog has progeny or not.
If you are considering of taking an Akita, you may want to check our database for possible suspicious relatives of the dog.
